As a Research Associate in the Center on Biobehavioral Health Disparities Research (CBHDR), the central focus of my research is to examine the relationship between sports participation, accelerated aging, perceived stress, and mild traumatic brain injury (sport concussions) across the life course. My work is funded by the National Institute of Aging through the diversity supplement-training program at the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research (MCUAAAR). While the majority of my time is dedicated to accomplishing the research and training aims of the MCUAAAR diversity scholars program, I continue to develop a program of research that utilizes a Biobehavioral approach to consider how and when sports participation leaves athletes vulnerable for negative health outcomes.
