Bio

Naomi Adjei received a B.A. in biology from Drake University then went on to attain an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grace University. Naomi has worked a licensed therapist is varying capacities from 2013-2020. Naomi is currently working on her Ph.D. in gerontology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha under the mentorship of Associate Professor, Dr. Janelle Beadle. As part of her doctoral work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, she has been awarded the Research Development Award, as well as the Graduate Research and Creative Activity award that provided support for an independent research project. Her doctoral research involves examining stress and aspects of social function in caregivers to individuals with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and frontotemporal dementia. Additionally, she works as a graduate assistant in the Aging Brain and Emotion Lab (ABE Lab) at UNO where the focus is to investigate brain networks that support adaptive social cognitive processes in healthy aging. Through her experience at the lab, she has been exposed to a variety of cognitive neuroscience techniques, such as neuropsychological testing, behavioral experiments, and hormonal assays.
