Hello! My name is Lauren. I'm a GERO doctoral student, avid researcher, and enthusiastic college level instructor. My current interests in social gerontology include resilience, religion/spirituality, mental health/family trauma, and LGBT elder relationships and advocacy. I also have a special emphasis in qualitative/mixed methods research, and I am hoping to apply this to gerontology and related fields.
Additionally, I teach introductory social science classes (psychology, sociology, and gerontology) and strive to develop learner-centered instructional techniques. My hope is to continue this effort in social sciences in online, hybrid, and in person formats. One of my major interests is open educational resources (OER), geragogy, and pedagogical approaches for diverse and non-traditional learners across the life course.
My passions include writing, public speaking, intergenerational dialogue, and good coffee. Please feel free to contact me for collaboration opportunities, good conversation, or independent bookstore recommendations!
