Bio

Bio

My name is Patrick Klaiber and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Developmental Psychology. In my research, I examine daily life across the adult life span with a special focus on positive experiences and stressors. I am especially interested in how differences in daily life processes contribute to long-term health, well-being and successful aging. I completed my Doctoral Studies at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada and earned degrees from the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Freiburg, Germany. My research has been been featured by international news outlets such as the New York Times, the Washington Post or the CBC.

Expertise

How are the ups and downs of daily life related to our health and well-being? In my work, I try to learn more about how people's minor positive experiences, such as having a laugh with a co-worker or going for a walk in nature can be important sources of positive emotions and can help deal with the demands of everyday life. I am especially interested in how these experiences differ across the adult lifespan (e.g. in older or middle-aged adults).
