Academic:
My academic pedagogues emphasize student engagement through collaborative communities, where students apply key concepts using today’s social media tools. Also, I facilitate active learning by encouraging students to explore how concepts apply to real-world problems. Finally, as a nurse educator, I ensure students acquire the critical nursing skills needed by participating in case studies and simulated exercises, thus achieving positive learning outcomes. Following this rubric of active student learning, the next generation of nurses is equipped to be professional, academic scholars.
Research:
I am committed to my post-doc research in chronic pain management perception among at-risk older adults in the community.
Long Term Care:
I have over 25 years of nursing experience, with a proven track record in meeting or exceeding state and federal regulatory mandates in long-term care. As a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, I have a working knowledge of CMS initiatives and QIS survey compliance, as well as staying current with on-going mandates in nursing homes( E.g. roll out corporate compliance programs, effort to reduce off-label use of psychotropic medications, and reduce re-hospitalizations).
