I first attend GSA in 2003 as a doctoral student and have been a member since 2006. With a background in Public Health, my areas of research and teaching include organizational behavior and leadership, long-term care administration, epidemiology and biostatistics, and health disparities and diversity management.
I am a senior author of two healthcare textbooks. Published in September 2018,
The Challenges of Health Disparities: Implications and Actions for Health Care Professionals sought to develop strategies for addressing the disparities of access to care based upon the nature of every remediable cause, whether it is provider based, patient based, environmentally based, or other social determinants such as education, income, marital status. This book was later selected as “
21 Best Health Care Administration Books of All Time” by BookAuthority.org. Another book:
Isms in Health Care Human Resources: A Concise Guide to Workplace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was published in September 2020.
It is one of a few texts currently available on the topic of workplace diversity in health care. It provides a framework for health professionals and students to reanalyze the irreversible damages of certain behaviors by introducing “Isms” such as ageism, cultural diversitism, sexualism, IQism, etc. I was grateful that AUPHA added it to the list of “
2020-2021 Bugbee-Falk Book Award Selections”.
As an Interdisciplinary researcher, I welcome all collaboration opportunities especially in the areas of public health and health administration education, health disparities, and diversity management. As a proud member of GSA community, I wish to d
isplay positivity and enthusiasm to my students, mentees, and colleagues. Let's have fun working together!
