I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with my BSW and has been licensed in the state of Ohio since September, 2008. I earned my MSW in 2009 with a specialization in Health and Aging. I spent five years as a dialysis Social Worker in a large, for-profit dialysis corporation. I maintained a caseload of approximately 100 patients living with kidney failure on dialysis. I have also worked in mental health case management and hospital social work on several medical floors, including kidney transplant, medical intensive care unit, heart failure, oncology, and telemetry. I have have taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State Community and Technical College, and Case Western Reserve University and have taught topics in Social Work and Sociology, including Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Social Work, and Introduction to Social Welfare. My research interests are in health care social work practice, chronic illness, dialysis, health inequities, and medical ethics. My experiences working with individuals with chronic illnesses have been informed by perspectives on social determinants of health frameworks and multidisciplinary critical perspectives that consider the intersections of race, gender and class and their impacts on navigating through the health care system
