Yasemin Afacan is an associate professor and the chair of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey. She holds a PhD in interior architecture obtained from Bilkent University in 2008 and master of architecture obtained from Middle East Technical University in 2004. Before joining in Bilkent University, she has worked as a lecturer in Queens University Belfast, UK. Dr. Afacan received numerous research grants and published articles in various refereed journals internationally. Afacan’s research focuses on sustainable interior design, user-friendly environments, and accessible housing for elderly. She has been the board member of International Society of Gerontechnology since 2014.
