Bio

Bachelor of Science in Applied Science - University of Pennsylvania
Associate of Applied Science - Nursing - North Country Community Colleg, Saranac Lake, NY - 1993
Masters of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner - 2009

I've been a nurse since 1993. Prior to that I was a Veterinary Technician for 5 years, and a volunteer Critical Care AEMT in NY state. I flew with a local helicopter flight service - North Country Life Flight - for 2 years while I was in nursing school. On obtaining my RN, I went to an Internship in Anchorage Alaska with the Native Health Service, followed by 2 years in Nome working at the regional hospital there. I did everything from basic Med/Surg nursing to flying Medevacs. ER, OB including L&D, Flight, Pysch/Mental Health, Critical Care, anything that happened to walk in the door. I returned to upstate NY after 2 years and spent 2 1/2 years in a busy ER in Plattsburgh NY. I resumed flying with North Country Life Flight during this time. In 1998, I returned to Alaska for a full time position as a Flight Nurse based in Anchorage AK. I also worked per diem as an ER nurse in Palmer, AK. While working as a Flight Nurse, I decided to return to school and get my Nurse Practitioner. In 2009, I graduated from Drexel University with my MSN and passed my board exam for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. The last year of school I had stopped flying and was strictly working in the ER. In October 2009, I started my present job as a Nurse Practitioner at Providence Extended Care/Providence Transitional Care Center. I have been practicing for 5 years now. I provide care to our LTC residents including regulatory visits, acute care visits, wound care, and discharges. I co-created our Wound Care Team and oversee wound care for the facility with our Medical Director.

I am originally from the Philadelphia area on the east coast. I have lived in Florida, Illinois, Upstate New York, and Alaska. I am married. My wife has 3 children from a previous marriage - all grown now. I love the outdoors and love to get out into the back country, whether it be on foot, by canoe, on horseback, or on skis. We have 2 horses and both love to ride. Unfortunately we both suffer from arthritis and riding is becoming quite difficult. I build model airplanes, and one of these days will learn to fly them - they are RC planes. I am a Civil War buff and love to study most anything related to the war. I love to read and have read many Science Fiction and Fantasy novels. I play the djembe drum.
