Bio

Sarah L. Canham MA, PhD is an Associate Professor with the University of Utah and has been doing research in health services, mental health, and addictions for over a decade. Sarah previously completed a postdoctoral appointment with the Drug Dependence Epidemiology Training Program at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her scholarship is focused on substance abuse, sleep problems, and social isolation and loneliness in later life. Dr. Canham’s work uses multiple methodologies and has received support from the National Institute's on Drug Abuse. Within the Gerontological Society of America, Dr. Canham is active in the Aging, Alcohol, and Addictions Interest Group and is the co-coordinator of the annual service event, Gerontologists Giving Back.
