Dr. Tracie Harrison

Professor & Sun Chair in Geriatric Nursing,
University of Arkansas Medical Sciences

Bio

I am the Sun endowed Chair in Geriatrics/Gerontology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. I am currently involved with research to improve the outcomes of under-served populations of people aging with and into disability. I primarily study multi-cultural implications of functional limitations over the life course.

I have advanced training in gerontology, disability, health disparities, and health policy. I have conducted multiple studies on aging and disability; specifically, on how age and function combine to effect biological, functional and social outcomes. The contribution of various cultural factors to health disparity outcomes for people with disabilities is also a major research interest.

From a methods perspective, I have expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods research, as well as survey research and policy analysis. I have served as a Health & Aging Policy Fellow for the Administration on Aging and The Office on Disability in Washington, DC. I am dedicated to using my knowledge base to structure and guide student learning experiences that yield substantial and discernible student progress.
