Bio

I am a medical geriatrician and health services researcher at the Houston Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety (IQuESt). I have a federally funded research program developing and testing interventions to improve health outcomes for older adults with multiple chronic conditions.
I also direct the Center for Training in Healthcare Quality which supervises a variety of education and training activities for postdoctoral fellows (physicians and PhDs) in health services and outcomes research at the Michael E DeBakey VA medical center and Baylor College of Medicine; program evaluation for several national VA health services and quality improvement programs; and the Coordinating Center for the VA Quality Scholars Program, a postdoctoral training program for physician and nurse fellows in quality improvement and patient safety across 8 VA national sites and a partner site in Toronto, Canada.
