Amy Turk, LCSW, as the Chief Program Officer at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles provides oversight of the Clinical Health Services, Vocational Education, Social Enterprises, Day Center, and Permanent Supportive Housing located in Los Angeles providing care for women experiencing homelessness. Amy has worked in the non-profit sector since 1998 providing services for survivors of domestic violence; adults living with mental illness, experiencing homelessness, and recovering from substance abuse; and families of children with special needs. Amy received a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Los Angeles in 2009 and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Pepperdine University. Supported by the John A. Hartford Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies, Amy served as a 2014 Practice Change Leader for Aging and Health. Amy is currently advance public policy through a Change AGEnts Action Award. As a volunteer, Amy enjoyed five years as a domestic violence hotline counselor and trainer at Peace Over Violence and currently serves as a board member for Lighting the Ethiopian Path, a non-profit to tutor homeless youth in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
